When Trudeau designed the rebate program, he excluded all the indirect costs of the Carbon Tax. So when a grocer raises prices to cover the business cost of the carbon tax, you pay that but get no rebate for it. When an item becomes more expensive, because the trucker... show more

I’m smart enough to know that I pay far more than this ridiculous so-called carbon rebate, much much more.

Not only that but the people that are the worst hit by this tax are budgeting not yearly, but paycheck to paycheck. They're worried about milk money NOW, gas to get to work NOW. Shelling out extra now and maybe getting some back in a few months, doesn't help them feed their kids NOW.

There are no rebates when it comes to any of the alternative approaches to a carbon tax for 🔽 emissions. There are certainly no rebates when it comes to the effects of climate change on food prices. What is your party's climate plan?

It is a compound tax! At every stage of production and transportation the carbon tax is applied with the GST added. The next stage’s price has an increased input cost due to the previous CT, not to mention the additional GST. Rinse and repeat until it’s in your possession.

@NickFehr7 Self-employed contractor here. When my costs go up, I charge more to maintain my razor-thin profit. Does this really need more explanation?

groceries, not to mention hardware stores. I needed a rubber washer for a shower head. 1 little itty bitty piece of rubber. Home hardware 2 pack was 4.40. It should be 40 cents. The packaging cost more then the item. A plastic(not metal) 6"shower head arm at HH was 12.99

The rebates cover all carbon taxes paid. A tractor trailer from Toronto to Montreal averaging 6 mpg would use an extra $6.50 because of the carbon tax. A pallet of goods will cost an extra 21 cents. C-tax increase is negligible. 1 box of cereal would be .16 cents more.

the point of the tax is to make everything more expensive - and then buy people off with cheques to ease the pain

Does your party have a climate action plan? No? Then sit down and shut the hell up.

If Canadians took a little more time to understand politics and the decisions being made for them the shape of our country would be on a much better path. Too many conversations where people say they don’t care about politics. Well they will care when their meals start getting smaller no matter how hard they work.
