When we face big challenges, we have two choices: to be daunted, or to be motivated by them. This Prime Minister won’t dodge big and difficult issues - Andy Burnham will run towards them 👇

@andyburnham So why has he not even mentioned the boats yet, Wes?One of the British public's most consistent worries for almost a decade now. Stop telling us he won't dodge big issues when he's dodging one of the biggest issues the British public have.

@andyburnham You are a snake. A backstabbing snake. I used to think you were a potential future leader. Turns out you’re no different to the self obsessed Tory egos we replaced when Starmer won his majority & you barely held on to your own seat

@andyburnham Notice you felt the need to slag off Starmer AGAIN Don't you think he's had enough of the plotting to oust him-without sticking the knife in & sabotaging him on a daily bases Most vile carry on I have ever experienced-in nearly 50 years of a Labour Member Which is why I'm out

@andyburnham Starmer did just fine Wes. 2 years was not enough. Reform was done and this plotting started way before the May elections. The whole thing is preposterous and you have jumped the shark on this one mate. @LBC

@andyburnham Yeh, let's take everyone as far away from the South Coast as possible. If we can't see it, it's not real. "Right, has everyone claimed their taxpayer funded expenses for travelling to the Manchester stunt"? "Where's my photographer"? Couldn't run a Tombola Stall @UKLabour

@andyburnham Now Wes, while we got you Tell, have you asked John for the same amount of defence spending he asked Rachel for. And if you have and he said no will you throw your toys out like John did 😅

@andyburnham You thought it was funny that hundreds of rapey and murderous prisoners were going to be let out onto the streets of Britain, like anyone gives a fk about anything you might have to say. Sit down and shut up.

@charliemansell @andyburnham He’s spent his first week in power making selfie videos about crisps and opening another office so he can get back home on Friday in fifteen minutes.

@andyburnham I assume self promotion and talking about unhealthy snacks are the big challenges of the week. Where is the gravitas and statesmanship. We seem to have a reality TV style PM!

@andyburnham You don’t face the challenges that we the people face. You have fat salaries, back handers, you expense your living onto us the working poor. You are the entitled arrogant elite that simply are out of touch and clueless.

@andyburnham Wes Streeting is officially becoming Labour’s Grant Shapps. Zero relevant experience required. Just turn up, say something about running towards the challenges, and move on to another department before anyone checks the results.

What if one of the most important things you can give your children isn't something you buy them? Of course we want our children to be happy, but that doesn't mean we need to always prioritize their comfort. We need to help them become strong enough to handle life when things don't go their way. That doesn't mean raising children who never show emotion or teaching them to toughen up and ignore their feelings. It means teaching them that difficult things can be faced instead of avoided. Let them struggle with age appropriate challenges. Let them make mistakes. Let them experience disappointment. Give them responsibilities and expect them to follow through. Sometimes the easiest thing a parent can do is step in and fix a problem. But if we constantly remove every obstacle from a child's path, how are they ever going to learn how to deal with obstacles on their own? Children need to know that failure isn't the end of the world. They need to learn how to apologize when they're wrong, how to keep going when something is difficult, how to be responsible for their choices, and how to do things for themselves instead of always depending on somebody else. And perhaps most importantly, they need parents who believe they are capable. There is a big difference between protecting a child from every difficulty and preparing a child to face difficulty. The goal isn't to make childhood harder than it needs to be. Childhood should still be full of fun, laughter, encouragement, and love. But eventually those kids will grow up and face a world that won't always be kind or fair. They'll have setbacks, difficult decisions, broken hearts, failures, and responsibilities of their own. We won't always be able to protect them from those things. But we can give them the confidence and character to face them. Are we raising children who simply expect life to be easy, or are we preparing them to be strong when it isn't?
