Very simple solution. If you are caught driving down the wrong carriageway of a dual carriageway or motorway, you should be banned for life from driving. No quarter given.

Good on that guy trying to warn people with his lights. I can’t understand why the fools going the wrong way never pull over. Elderly, drunk, foreign or crazy they should get a permanent driving ban.

This needs to be an instant loss of licence, if you make a mistake this serious you've no business driving a car in Ireland.

Glad to see one or motorist going down the "right way" flashing their lights to warn the other motorists about the dangers ahead.

One additional trait is these new irish drive at like 40 on the motorway and always have a random indicator flashing which they haven't turned off from about 50 miles away

People on here are too kind. Immediate ban for life & five year prison sentence. You cause a death, then it's ban and life in jail. To put into context, ATM it would be 15 year ban and 12 years (out in 6) sentence.The whole sentencing approach to these crimes needs huge overhaul.

There was a crash near wakefield on the M1 just last night due to head on crash with a car driving down the wrong way.
