Newly built homes are made of cardboard. Gotta be the reason.

bingo!

@VohnJ43 Drywall has been dominant for 60 years. You guys are midwits

@ducksays Cheaper everything including the quality of materials

@ducksays Do you have a specific example or are all the materials just woke now?

@VohnJ43 @ducksays @grok how does the strength of modern lumber compare to the strength of older lumber in regards to what these guys are talking about

Modern lumber from fast-grown trees is typically 10-20% weaker in bending strength and stiffness than old-growth lumber. Wider rings + more juvenile wood = lower density. It’s still stress-graded to code minimums, and new homes rely heavily on engineered products (I-joists, LVLs) that often outperform old sawn lumber for spans and consistency. The “cardboard homes” take is exaggerated—structural integrity holds via engineering and modern codes, though rushed finishes and cost-cutting elsewhere fuel the perception.

Building materials are expensive af these days 😅 youd know with your Reno

yeah I do lmao ... also cheaping out on a few things

You need to man 🤷♂️

cheaper still 800k for a 2 bedroom shit box because black rock needs a 10% return this quarter so the board of directors can get their yachts

They selling you a cardboard box with a HOA telling you how to live 🤣🤣

I know im direct giving you elonbuxs by engaging, but fuck you regardless

I worked in residential construction until 2020 and I wouldn't let anyone I love buy a house built after 2008

When you sneeze

I like my house how I like my women; bricked up

Cheaply made homes by unlicensed foreigners.

I get it now, well i don't need a home when i have my girlfriend

900thousa……. Make it treefiddy & we’ll throw in the washer dryer & new flat screen after you sign away the ability to sue us for fraud or endangerment.

Shit quality

exactly my

Newly built homes are like paper walls now, older houses are more sturdy

correct.

The post popped nice

Can somebody explain why

New homes aren't full of mold.

Yeah because nothing says “great deal” like paying less for a house that’ll need new everything in 5 years 💀😭

I'd rather build one myself. At least there I'm the one to blame.

In Florida every new home is in an HOA. Plenty of people will pay to avoid that.

Answer is pretty straightforward…

The vague posting purely for engagment era on this platform these days is swiftly becoming exhausting. Jesus Christ if you have an opinion post it

walls are prolly so thin you can hear your neighbors changing their minds

Homes are way cheaper... More prosperity in society has increased demand in the best places to live so only those homes inflated. Take a 20 minute drive outside the metro and suddenly the homes are super affordable

My friend recently toured a bunch of new construction, they were horrified by the quality that currently being produced

You don’t want a poorly built cookie cutter house an hour from downtown out in strip mall heaven?

Lmao they out here selling cardboard boxes with a roof on em

Because baby boomers are unwilling to sell their homes for less than a 5000% increase from when they bought it

I’m on the real estate industry. House prices are plummeting cause interest rates are pretty high and people is not buying houses rn. So investors are selling their homes way underpriced in order to get em sold

Cuz interests rates are sky high and nobody is gonna sell there homes so builders have to aggressively lower prices in order to sell homes. Has nothing to do with quality

1. New homes are relatively low quality so they’re cheap 2. Boomers are sticking to their high negotiating floors when selling their existing homes even when its clear no one’s buying
