Why does it have to take a white man to come to their aid? Nobody within that community could take up the initiative to invite the Water Engineer man in the first place. This is utterly disgusting and embarrassing to say the least.

I think he great for what he did but for the life of me I can’t understand why there is no self initiative to fix the pump…broken one year and this guys gets it fixed in one day…

@davidjmcwalter I’m confused - do they not want clean water? How do “2,000 people” let this pump stay broken for a year?

Africans, our leaders are very wicked and heartless. They spend our money on a luxurious lifestyle and can't fix a broken water pump for an entire village of 2000 people. It takes a white man 3 hours to fix it. This is Ghana 🇬🇭, and our leaders should be ashamed.

So No One thought to fix it until the White man came along?

The problem isn’t the broken part. The problem is that you have 2000 people who are unable to fix a pump.

All those doctors and engineers, and they couldn't fix the foot pump well for over a year?

Certainly a kind act from this person. However, how is it possible that for an entire year the residents of this village didn’t call their own people to fix it? Even if it was expensive — 2000 people in the village couldn’t contribute $1 each for clean water? We’re talking about 2000 people, and not one of them thought of this? Clearly, something else is going on here…

To make these people truly self-reliant and independent, they need to be taught that things need maintenance. Everything needs looking after.

Billions of USAID dollars and a broken water pump for a year. Hmm. Wonder where the money went?

So the well has been broken for a year and no one fixes it. White guy shows up and they get it fixed in a few hours…

How come a white man has to do this? Why can't they solve this minor problem themselves, after a year? This clearly shows that all relief efforts are like pouring water into the sea.

#RDC Did the white man have to come to repair the pumpe? It was a black man who repaired the pump Couldn’t the villagers organized themselves to repair the pump? Africa is still waiting for the white man or their government which don’t care to act They need to take responsibility

I bought a remote property without a well (cant because of a deep salt layer). I learned to install a pump and water system that pulls and cleans water from a creek and maintain it. I learned how to install a rain catchment system as well. No one did it for me and I'm no scholar.

Yes Life Is Tough! However Why Didn’t They Fix It? I’m Glad They Have Clean Water. Just Doesn’t Make Any Sense As To Them Fixing It.

Where all those “they want to steal our resources and minerals .now see ordinary water they cannot provide to the local communities.sad tale of a country with wicked leaders and some useless followers who defend them for peanuts

What exactly was the “water pump engineer” doing for the last year? Not his job, that’s for sure!

A take away ffrom this little clip. 1) A sober person notices these people are unable to think 2) He understand that a solution is near you just need to think 3) A native that understands engineering was identified and payed to fix the borehole Lesson: the majority are dumb

The engineer and his crew couldn’t care less about their own people until a white man came to make a video for clout and pay them money That’s the real problem Not lack of resources but lack of caring

It had to take a White man to come to Africa to repair a water system? The Repairer is even in town? What happened to the leaders of that community? No wonder our children will grown up selling their properties to run away from Africa. I felt shame watching this video.

you mean to tell us there was a group of people in that damn village that could have fixed the pump the whole damn time??? but it took a whole year for a white man to come visit....? seems like a self-appointed hero video, you know like those people that put animals in dangerous situations and then film themselves "saving them"

I'm confused. The water pump was broken for a year. The water engineer pump guy shows up on a phone call and it's fixed? Where the f*ck was this dude for a year?

It's a nice story but these people really need to start helping themselves instead of waiting for someone else to save them. Billions of my tax payer money, has been sent in aid and nothing ever changes.

Explain why no native there did it. They must be able (taught) to build and capable of maintaining fresh water systems themselves. Many such places get wells and systems put in and they dont maintain them. They must be capable to do so or its throwing labor and money away.

You saw it was a black man who fixed it right , and it was just some small thing broken in it ,can’t everyone in the community pay a token for that thing to be fixed , for all you know the govt made the borehole ,You expect the govt to go round the country maintaining boreholes.

@Nobunny333 I’ve always wondered: Who dug the wells for my ancestors settling the Midwest 150 years ago? It’s obviously impossible for people to do it themselves.

Repairer is in the same town but they are comfortably drinking dirty water and couldn't crowdfund for him to fix it until a white man took the step. Na wa,ooo
