Why does it have to take a white man to come to their aid? Nobody within that community could take up the initiative to invite the Water Engineer man in the first place. This is utterly disgusting and embarrassing to say the least.

I think he great for what he did but for the life of me I can’t understand why there is no self initiative to fix the pump…broken one year and this guys gets it fixed in one day…

Africans, our leaders are very wicked and heartless. They spend our money on a luxurious lifestyle and can't fix a broken water pump for an entire village of 2000 people. It takes a white man 3 hours to fix it. This is Ghana 🇬🇭, and our leaders should be ashamed.

The problem isn’t the broken part. The problem is that you have 2000 people who are unable to fix a pump.

Certainly a kind act from this person. However, how is it possible that for an entire year the residents of this village didn’t call their own people to fix it? Even if it was expensive — 2000 people in the village couldn’t contribute $1 each for clean water? We’re talking about 2000 people, and not one of them thought of this? Clearly, something else is going on here…

To make these people truly self-reliant and independent, they need to be taught that things need maintenance. Everything needs looking after.

So the well has been broken for a year and no one fixes it. White guy shows up and they get it fixed in a few hours…

I bought a remote property without a well (cant because of a deep salt layer). I learned to install a pump and water system that pulls and cleans water from a creek and maintain it. I learned how to install a rain catchment system as well. No one did it for me and I'm no scholar.

It's a nice story but these people really need to start helping themselves instead of waiting for someone else to save them. Billions of my tax payer money, has been sent in aid and nothing ever changes.

Explain why no native there did it. They must be able (taught) to build and capable of maintaining fresh water systems themselves. Many such places get wells and systems put in and they dont maintain them. They must be capable to do so or its throwing labor and money away.

You saw it was a black man who fixed it right , and it was just some small thing broken in it ,can’t everyone in the community pay a token for that thing to be fixed , for all you know the govt made the borehole ,You expect the govt to go round the country maintaining boreholes.

Repairer is in the same town but they are comfortably drinking dirty water and couldn't crowdfund for him to fix it until a white man took the step. Na wa,ooo
