Francis Ford Coppola recalled, “Talia was the one who said Kay shouldn’t have a miscarriage, she should have an abortion.” Coppola stated that because he used her "terrific" idea, he felt he owed her a significant scene for her own character. He told her, "Since you gave me that idea, I’m going to write a scene where you come and ask Michael to forgive Fredo."
