Non-verbal replies are very useful for those situations. Just nod, wink, smile or give a thumb up. They aren't expecting an elaborate reply anyway, just acknowledgement.

Same thing happens to me every time I walk into the gym, dude at the desk says "enjoy your workout," and I always say "thanks you too" and then I realize that n*gga ain't about to do no workout!

It happened to me, people never compliment my eyes, and for the first time in my life someone told me "you have beautiful eyes" and I was like "Uh?" I didn't say anything. I was in shock and only reacted when the guy had already left 🫠🫠🫠 I don't deserve compliments 😭
