I just want us to live in reality. Are all white voters opposed to Black leadership? No. Do many white voters want a certain type of Black leader? Absolutely. They’re about numbers. So spare me the opinions about Jasmine Crockett and James Talarico. If the record shows that heavily funding and running “less polarizing” candidates keeps producing losses, then maybe — just maybe — it’s time to try something different. I’ve run for the U.S. Senate. I’m not guessing when I say this: putting real resources behind candidates who actually engage Black and Brown voters is the path. A new version of the same old strategy keeps losing. They tried Beto. They tried Collin. Neither was considered “polarizing.” Both lost. So don’t tell me what can’t win. The most polarizing man on the planet is president right now. America elects polarizing candidates all the time. Audacity wins when it’s funded. What I’m asking is simple: stop ignoring Black voters in the South. If you have one million Black voters on the table and you’re 200,000 votes short, your odds of winning increase by engaging those Black voters — not chasing white ones who have already shown you who they are. Liberals being more depressed than conservatives doesn’t surprise me at all. When your entire political culture is built around seeing yourself as a victim, it takes a toll. Victimhood is treated like currency on the left. The more oppressed you claim to be, the more status you get. That kind of mindset wears people down over time. Add to that how often Democrats frame every issue as the end of the world. Everything is “a crisis,” everything is “under attack,” and everything is “existential.” Living in constant emotional overdrive is exhausting. And when your worldview is built on feelings instead of consistency or reality, it creates confusion, anxiety, and instability. Of course it leads to more depression. If you’re constantly told the world is unfair, hopeless, oppressive, and dangerous, eventually you’ll believe it. That’s the environment many on the left live in every single day.

Liberals being more depressed than conservatives doesn’t surprise me at all. When your entire political culture is built around seeing yourself as a victim, it takes a toll. Victimhood is treated like currency on the left. The more oppressed you claim to be, the more status you get. That kind of mindset wears people down over time. Add to that how often Democrats frame every issue as the end of the world. Everything is “a crisis,” everything is “under attack,” and everything is “existential.” Living in constant emotional overdrive is exhausting. And when your worldview is built on feelings instead of consistency or reality, it creates confusion, anxiety, and instability. Of course it leads to more depression. If you’re constantly told the world is unfair, hopeless, oppressive, and dangerous, eventually you’ll believe it. That’s the environment many on the left live in every single day.

Jake Tapper: "Now, about the time that was published last year, around 1 million Latino voters in Texas were voting for Trump. Do they all have slave mentality?"
