Yes!!!!

Politics is life. When I arrived to the UK from France as a student in 1984, I was amazed by the lack of political awareness & interest in politics from my fellow British students. I was used to discussing politics at home & with my friends a lot (yes we actually do this in 🇫🇷!).

One of the few things that cheers me in these dark times for the U.K. is young women like yourself Marina, engaging in politics and putting your head above the parapet to shout about injustice. It’s a good sign. It’s a sign of hope for the future.

Because people have real lives to live, rent to pay, and kids to look after. Engaging in politics can be incredibly disheartening and distracting for any adult to get involved in.

Get new friends? I get the same reaction from colleagues, with rolling eyes and such. The same people who say "Why are the Government doing this?" "Why are my bills so high" "Why is the food in the super market nowadays so crap?" etc.

When people say they don't like politics, what they mean is they'd rather ignore it until it's negatively impacting them or pretend that it doesn't

@MimiJ9 Exactly!!! Someone had a go at me once said to me when I mentioned how some cuts now affected me - “oh stop talking about politics” and then 5 minutes later the words “doing xyz was the worst thing the Gov did” (obv that was a Labour gov) -it’s just a Tory way of shutting us up

@mattseber Simpler way i once heard it explained - is politics is what links yohr every day life to economics '. Why shouldn't be distracted by nonsense about dingies etc
