I'm curious about the scientific evolutionally reason that humans of all cultures and time periods have found fart noises funny.

Reminds me of the time when I went to the movies with a friend. I had to pee after the movie ended and went to the bathroom. After I was finished, I sat there on the can for a minute contemplating life when I heard quick footsteps of someone running into the bathroom with an immediate stall door slamming. Next thing you know I hear them wrecking the porcelain and I was sitting there trying to be as quiet as I can, only to fail and snort in laughter at the ungodly beastial sounds coming from the other side of the bathroom. The moment I let out an accidental giggle there was immediate silence almost as if the person panicked mid shit and stopped nuking it because it was an "uh-oh someone is in here" type of moment for them. Despite taking my time moseying in the bathroom, eventually I left because a friend was waiting...told him what was going on and we decided to stick around to see if someone would come out. Whomever was wrecking it must have been so embarrassed that they probably refused to leave for like a half hour though. After 10 minutes of waiting, we got bored and left. Once in awhile we will laugh over the story of what we call the phantom shitter.

Why did this made me laugh out loud?

Fart noises are ingrained in all of us as inherently funny. I would like a scientist to explain the evolutionary reason for this.
