Isn’t it too late to close this door? Two generations were poisoned into believing borders don’t matter, the police are bad, socialism is good, and whites/Jews are privileged oppressors. How do unwind the clock on millions of polluted minds?

Yeh too bad someone didn’t figure this out 25 years ago. Too late now.

I invite anyone to understand the magnitude of capture of higher education by those with the dialectical orientation by going to and searching for “Marx alienation”. I just did and got 503,000 results. Alienation is the rejection of reality and the search for an ideologically viable replacement. Nobody who rejects reality is qualified to bestow academic credentials on anyone.

Fearless inquiry along with vigorous debate and discussion that includes people who disagree with each other is how we advance knowledge and understanding - but yes, shocking how unipolar many campuses and faculty have become where politics seems to cover every field of study - starting with who may be admitted and how they are taught and assessed.

Thank you for this lucid, concise, and persuasive critique of higher education in too many fields. Truth - and the pursuit of truth- must be the paramount value, not political agendas or cultural revolution. #HigherEd

He’s a good man. My younger daughter just graduated from Vanderbilt last year and I enjoyed his commencement speech.

Academic medicine has traded evidence for orthodoxy. UK medical schools now graduate bureaucrats who've never touched a stethoscope. Small wonder the NHS rots while our best clinicians relocate to Dubai.

I can only hope that more administrators and faculty (not holding my breath) come around to this view. The corruption of scholarship in the interest of "social justice" has been pervasive, deep, and deleterious in the extreme.

We’ve reached the point where it’s become necessary to reiterate the obvious. If we want, we could start by addressing the issue of universities’ subordination to the state and their becoming part of the culture industry, but who even understands this kind of discourse anymore?

What do you expect when they have been told since elementary school to become advocates and stand up for what you believe. Well what does a child believe? Exactly what their teacher schooled them into believing. They grow up and now run the Universities and are 100% political.

I wish someone would give this talk at certain conferences I attend every year. Although I have seen a course correction in some fields.

The university goal is the sequestration of knowledge, thus the fortress mentality behind those ivory covered walls... & the guard on watch is tenure

What's political agenda of molecular biology? How about cancer research? Astrophysics - what's its agenda? Inorganic chemistry - how much does it offend our maga? Because that's what's being entirely defunded now. If science is so unwelcome, it moves. Maybe it needs to happen.

Problem is, by the time of the Population Explosion then Global Warming/Cooling & look-say replacing phonics (1950s) - it's been political. I hope he changes Vanderbilt back to education instead of indoctrination. Best wishes to him on that task against the powers that be.

What happened in academia went well beyond politics. It started with moral relativism. Then they bastardized the language. Finally, they allowed the breakdown of civil discourse and debate effectively stifling the speech of anyone who challenged their data, language, or ethics.

This is Dissonance: The university has never been what @DanielDiermeier describes: it was always a hack and handmaiden to politics or inclinations of donors. Those that were established by proceeds of sales of the enslaved, undermined already any presumption of morality or truth.

2/There are no scholarly standards which were taken for granted: the rise of politics as centripetal in the University - each group demanding isometric self-study - is a reaction to the false history which was taken for granted, exposed as tissues of lies of a plutocratic racket!
