The CFIA to refused to test them, the government refused to relocate them to the US. You can not justify how they chose to kill these Ostriches. Over 300 birds running in panic for hours into and over each other. With the kill shot being the size of an orange. That is not humane

The birds weren't sick for months leading up to the cull and the CFIA refused to test. The claim of them being a bio hazard was shown to be untrue. The issue really was about gov abuse.

Livestock is property under the law. The Gov't arbitrarily decided that this property was dangerous and must be destroyed. Then proceeded to break multiple laws during the destruction and disposal. End of story.

Your questions are valid however the way this played out with the rcmp and cfia should be the main focus. The cull was inhumane - period. Why is the privy council involved? Who are they? Who are they accountable to? Those are the important questions.

The entire story seems a bit grifty to me. I'd be open to hearing what information the "ostrich folks" can provide, but when you go from raising meat birds to "they are highly intelligent, sensitive, creatures. They are my babies"? Yeah, I've got a few questions... The "tit-flasing" was a little odd as well. I've been known to "moon" (in jest) occasionally, but that likely wouldn't be my play if my "babies" were about to be slaughtered. Whole thing seemed rather performative.

Jan. CFIA said they would not Cull Ostriches because of Research Value with Immunity Research done at Fredrique Lab in Quebec. Then CFIA reversed decison and Frederique was promptly shut down. CFIA refused to re-test Ostriches which is WOAH protocol. CFIA not suspicious to you?
