We gave him our interview and he did way better than almost any of the full-time candidates that we had ever talked to. So we said to him, what do you think about taking some time off of school and working with us and building out Devin? I went to a memorial for Brian Wilson today, One of the biggest thrills of my life was when he agreed to record multiple parts on my version of California Girls, and he brought the wonderful Jeffrey Foskett along to sing on the record too. I'll never forget how generous he was with his precious time and unmatched talent. Brian truly was a genius and I was his grateful friend. I love you, Brian. Forever and ever.

Lately, it's become a trend to talk about Carlos as if he only started learning to play tennis well (for some, even to be educated) at 15. As if one coach is the only responsible for his success and for who he is in every aspect. Meanwhile, this was Carlos at age 10 in Murcia. One can acknowledge the work of a coach and give him credit without diminishing the player, who is the one holding the racket and coming back in historic 5: 30 hours finals, as if he didn't exist or have anything to do with his own success or who he is. A world number one, the youngest in history, isn't solely the work of a coach. Is also the work of his family, all his team and people, but above all, it's HIS OWN WORK, his talent, his commitment to his dream, and his constant sacrifice since childhood. Even if every now and then he has the audacity to need to rest for a few days with his friends or family.
