Torres: "In 2024, 90% of new electricity generation in the US was clean energy. 60% of it is solar. And Republicans are proposing to defund solar and battery storage and wind, which are the leading sources of new electricity generations in the US. It is an act of strategic self-sabotage."

Elon Musk explains why solar is the path to energy abundance “Solar is by far the biggest source of energy. On earth and beyond earth, the sun rounds up to 100% of all energy. This is an important thing to consider. The sun is 99.8% of the mass of the solar system. Jupiter is about 0.1% and everything else is miscellaneous. Even if you were to burn Jupiter in a thermonuclear reactor, the amount of energy produced by the sun would still round up to 100%… So it’s really all about the sun.” BlackRock CEO Larry Fink asks Elon what it would take to electrify the United States with solar power. Elon replies: “The rough way to think about it is: 100 miles x 100 miles of solar is enough to power the entire United States. You could basically take a small corner of Utah or Nevada or New Mexico — obviously you wouldn’t want it all in one place — but it’s a very small percentage of the area of the U.S. to generate all of the electricity the U.S. uses.” He continues: “The same is true for Europe. You could take relatively small, unpopulated areas of Spain and Sicily and generate all of the electricity power that Europe needs.” Source: CNBC (Jan 2026)

🇩🇪 SAD INDUSTRIAL STORY Germany built a huge solar power plant with moving solar panels, which turn with the sun and fold together in case of danger. The Solarpark Erlasee was the benchmark for the green energy transition! The plant was the largest open-air photovoltaic plant in the world in 2008. Now, years later ALL companies that produced the solar panel moving panels are bankrupt, so they cannot be maintained! The panels get struck in wrong position and repairs are extremely expensive, because spare parts are made by custom hand. In addition the energy subsidies ran out, and the electricity production is just not profitable anymore! Now the solar field is bankrupt. -> Man, everyone involved in this project became bankrupt! Everyone!

Solar and wind are sold as cheaper than coal, gas or nuclear using a number called LCOE (Levelized Cost of Energy). But LCOE is a junk metric. It pretends that one-megawatt-hour of intermittent power is the same as one-megawatt-hour of reliable power. It isn't. When the sun doesn't shine or the wind doesn't blow, you still need electricity. So backup plants (coal, gas or nuclear) must run in the background, ready to fire instantly. LCOE fails to count that cost. It also ignores the miles of transmission lines for remote wind farms, the giant storage systems to cover lulls, the stabilizers to keep frequency steady, and the massive overbuild needed just to survive bad weather weeks. These hidden costs explode as wind and solar take over more of the grid. On paper, LCOE makes these renewables look cheap. In reality, they drive up costs system-wide. That's why nations with the most wind and solar have the highest electricity prices. LCOE isn't just misleading, it's a lie.

"There is no such thing as renewable energy," says geologist and energy expert Scott Tinker. Sunlight and wind are continuously replenished. Solar panels, wind turbines, and batteries are not - they require mining, vast quantities of materials, manufacturing, land, backup power, and eventual replacement. Tinker is not anti-wind or anti-solar. His point is that low-density intermittent energy cannot simply replace the dense, dispatchable power modern civilization depends on. When the sun sets or the wind drops, electricity still has to come from storage, gas, nuclear, or some other firm source. And despite decades of "energy transition" (and the trillions spent), fossil fuels still provide 86% of global primary energy. The real transition, Tinker argues, will come through increasingly dense, reliable, and cleaner energy: top of the list being natural gas and nuclear. Affordable energy creates prosperity. Policy should follow physics.

THE LIE: Kamala HQ suggests your TV wouldn’t turn off if American energy was solely reliant on renewable energy. THE TRUTH: Your power, or TV in this case, would turn off if American energy was solely reliant on renewable energy. In the United States, wind makes up only 9.8% of America’s energy. "Wind is the largest source of renewable electricity generation in the United States, providing 9.8% of the country's electricity." (cleanpower. org.) Wind power has become problematic due to the fact that most locations are not windy enough, as Trump suggested. "Wind projects may not be cost-competitive in some locations that are not windy enough... Ideal wind sites are often in remote locations. Installation challenges must be overcome to bring electricity from wind farms to urban areas, where it is needed to meet demand." (energy. gov)

Most renewable electricity in the world is not wind or solar, it is hydropower. Hydro produces about 14% of global electricity, and more than half of all renewable power. It is reliable, dispatchable, and produces virtually no CO2 - yet many environmental groups oppose new dams. The same contradiction appears with nuclear power. Nuclear produces zero operational CO2, runs 24 hours a day, and uses far less land than wind or solar. If cutting emissions were truly the priority here, the focus would be obvious: Hydropower and nuclear, not endless wind and solar expansion.

How can clean energy be delivered directly to factories without going through the power grid?🔋 The answer: green power direct supply. This technology connects renewable energy sources like wind and solar power to industrial facilities through dedicated lines — generating power nearby and using it where it’s needed. From energy production to final consumption, every kilowatt-hour can be clearly tracked.📍 For energy-intensive industries, it means more than lower emissions. It brings cleaner electricity, less transmission loss, and a verifiable green pathway for sustainable operations.💡 CEEC is developing tailored green power direct supply solutions for businesses worldwide. Simple, transparent, and traceable — this is how we are powering a greener future. Britain has paid billions in subsidies to build thousands of turbines across its countryside. But when high pressure systems move in, wind collapses. During these calm spells, wind generation can fall to almost nothing, as low as 0.2% of the grid. When that happens, the grid scrambles. Coal is restarted, gas plants carry the bulk of the load and supply warnings are issued. This is the reality few in elected office seem to grasp. When the weather calms, which it regularly does, wind power disappears from the grid. Britain only stays online thanks to dispatchable energy systems picking up the slack. The country would be better off, both financially and in terms of energy security, if it simply ran off dispatchable power in the first place.

The Pelton turbine is a system widely used in mountainous areas because it harnesses water pressure to generate electricity in a renewable, clean, and efficient way, making it ideal for off-grid projects where hydraulic energy is directly converted into power through simple, reliable engineering without fossil fuels.

It is high time Greater Chennai Corporation powers its street lights with solar energy, especially during such emergency blackouts, cyclones and other natural disasters. GCC maintains around 3.01 lakh street lights in the city now. Engineers say that there are street lights with individual panels on which light energy is converted to electricity to power the lights. This will also reduce electricity bills in the long run. It can be alternated with the usual power supply too. What do you all think? #Solar #Chennai TANGEDCO Official

Worlds largest battery - beatiful pumped storage. Last week I visited Anji in central China. Its home to Changlongshan pumped storage plant. Deep inside the mountains water is pumped 400 meters by solar and wind power from a lower to an upper reservoir. When the sun is not shining or the wind is not blowing or there is peak energy demand, energy from the hydro turbines is released into the grid. The plant is huge, but fit well into the terrain showing we can build big and respect nature all the same. It creates a seemless system of solar, wind and hydro 24 hours a day. This is the future of green energy!

Pallone: Trump keeps saying, “Well, I don’t like the way solar panels look. I don’t like the way windmills look.” What the hell does that have to do with what we need to do in an energy crisis? The price of electricity keeps going up. And so they’ve taken the position—because of Trump—that they’re either going to eliminate renewables like solar or wind altogether, or they’re going to make them not a priority. That’s not based on what’s important for the American people—keeping energy affordable. If you don’t have an all-of-the-above energy policy that says, “Look, we need more energy, and we’re going to use nuclear, we’re going to use renewables, we’re going to use fossil fuels,” then you’re cutting off major sources of new energy generation, and prices are going to go through the roof. And then there’s the environmental aspect, because renewables don’t create the kinds of environmental problems that burning oil, gas, or coal does. I mean, one of the bills yesterday was to try to bring back coal in all its glory. Well, the price of coal is already so high that it would send electricity bills through the roof if you had to buy and burn it—not to mention the environmental damage.
