A friend had a flat tire, we managed to get all the nuts out but the rim wouldn't get off. After so many attempts in moving and kicking it, I told them to get the car down and stay away, I turn the car on, rotated the steering wheel and reversed slightly, it clicked. We raised the car again and put the spare. The spare was flat too...

Get a torch and make it hot. Or use an inductive heating coil. (That's actually my favorite go-to, though in this case there might be too much mass.)

Heat and shock and turning it the right way are key.

I use the handle from our big floor jack as a breaker bar. It's almost 4ft long. Never had an issue BUSTING A NUT loose lol.

I've done the same. But I have broken a wrench or two.

At the same time you're putting the torque pressure on you should be smacking it straight on the end with a sledge hammer.

You need the right tools;

I too broke a breaker bar trying to remove a castle nut from a VW Beetle rear wheel. The guys at Les Schwab couldn’t believe I broke it manually.

Well they broke it...not realizing it's a left hand tightened right hand turn loosen... it's a hub nut it has to not loosen during rotation of operation.. that's a genuine back yard mechanic..I know how to fix cars..no you don't..

Personally I’d probably heat it up with a torch then smack the socket with a hammer or use an air chisel to spin it off . Definitely smarter ways to do it though

Torch heat

As long as the welding doesn't remove the heat treating on the socket and make it weak, that's a good custom tool.

He just made the job more difficult. Curious if it’d been a better outcome if he’d reduced the point of contact distance … lost leverage but stronger force potential. … maybe.

I expect he probably should have applied heat to the outer part that he was trying to remove. The bind was stronger than the strength of the tool. Another option would be an impact wrench that sort of hammers at it with rapid jolts.

It's just a cv axle nut why not just use a fucking impact like a normal person? 3/4 drive impacts exist for a reason...
