Walking into my grandparents home when I saw his picture in the corner of the TV screen with the date 1/8/1935-8/16/1977. I was 10 years old & cried uncontrollably. I was & still am a huge Elvis Presley Fan. I was heartbroken- the first death I ever experienced of someone I Loved

The KING lives.

Basic training. We were standing in formation outside the Base Exchange, waiting for our turn to go inside to get our hygiene items. The newspaper machine (remember those) showed that day's edition and huge, block headline read, "Elvis Dead." Never forgot that.

My dad picked me up from football practice. He asked if I heard about Elvis (my mother adored Elvis since her childhood)? I said no and he told me Elvis had died. We rode in silence for about a minute then he said, "I reckon your mama is gonna be all torn up." When we got home, my mother had been crying all day.

This is generated, but its litteraly me in August 1977.

Getting ready to go to band practice, listening to the radio. I went to my knees!! It's a day I will remember for the rest of my life. I LOVED him. 🥺❤️

I was 16. My family had just moved Nashville from SoCal. I couldn't understand a word people said for 3 months.

I was 6 years old and about to jump into a swimming pool in Orlando, Florida because we were on vacation at the Magic Kingdom. I heard on the radio, "ladies and gentleman sad news from Memphis, Tennessee. The king of rock & roll, Elvis Presley, has died."

Walking through the family room and I heard the TV network interruption stating ,”The King Is Dead”. I was young teen and my first thought was , “We don’t have any kings in the United States.” And about a second later, I knew who they meant. I saw Elvis right before he died. He struggled through the concert. My mother was a devoted fan, seeing him in Vegas during the Colonel Parker Management days, and my aunt was kissed by him at the Greensboro airport!

My husband was stationed at El Toro Marine Base in California at that time. We just got home from his football practice and turned the news on to hear Elvis had died. My husband just reminded me Aretha Franklin died that same day and Groucho Marx died a few days after that too.

I was 6 years old sitting in the back seat of a red 1976 Ford Fiesta when the radio announced Elvis Presley had died. My friend’s mom (the driver) went into shock and started crying.

Working as a cashier at JC Penney while in college. Mgmt immediately moved me to the record department because there was a mad rush to buy his music.

I was sitting on the trunk of an old car behind my house with a girlfriend. My brother yelled out his bedroom window to let us know. I hollered at him that he wasn’t in the least bit funny, that Linda liked Elvis. I thought he was making it up. I cannot believe how vivid the memory is. Crazy.

I was 17 cruising Gratiot Ave. with the radio blaring with a buddy.

I just got home from work and my Dad had the radio on when they announced he had left the building for good. It was a huge shock and very sad. I even remember I was wearing a gray skirt suit. May he rest in peace.

In right field at Payne Park in Sarasota Fl, when a teammate came up to me named Rodney Allen, and said, Elvis died. He knew I was a huge fan. I thought it was a joke till I walked into the clubhouse and our manager had it on his tv!

Can’t Help Falling In Love:

I was there! We lived in Memphis at the time and joined in the sad madness. It was surreal.

In Memphis. I’ve never seen so many white limos in my life. My mom went to school with him

I was in Las Vegas !!! It was night time, Elvis impersonators were on outside on the STRIP weeping inconsolably. I didn't understand what happened until I got to my hotel when it was obvious something news worthy did occur and then my room.. next morning I woke up to the TV news

At Ft. Campbell Kentucky Still in the Army, Been Stateside Crazy for a Year

Summer camp on Catalina Island. None of the other campers could understand why I was sad. My parents weren't exactly Elvis fans, but I always thought he was great. (Still do.)

I was in the backseat of the car. My parents were in the front and we were driving somewhere. It came over the radio. I don’t even know how I remember that.

I was at work, my co worker was inthralled with Elvis, she sobbed, we all tried to console her, sad day

I was 12, and in Utah on a family visit, and completely devastated.

I was riding my horse and when I got back home, my parents were both crying on the front porch. We all loved the King.

I was on highway 401 eastbound near Kitchener. My passenger and I weeped at the news. I'm now nearly twice the age Elvis reached. Never anyone like him since.

Orange County, California. Elvis is my #1 male singer of all time since I first saw him on the Ed Sulivan show! Since I am 75, I can say that he will always be my favorite! Most everyone I knew, male and female, were shaken up by his death.

Eating a classic fried peanut butter, banana and bacon sandwich with a refreshing Tab. What... too soon?

I was in a Drug store named Super X in plainview ny with my aunt picking up some things for my grandfather - They had music playing in the store I remember the songs too... It was WABC in ny....they were playing Hound Dog and Don't Be Cruel it was like 4:15 pm..I remember my Aunt saying that's so different...what they are playing.... Dan Ingram made the announcement that Elvis had died...I remember my Aunt letting out a scream... She was so upset...Elvis was her boy - In fact the 1st 45's I ever bought was Burning love by Elvis...Witchy Woman by the Eagles and Listen To The Music by the doobie brothers all for 75 cents....Still have them all...She had WABC on all day after that...

Just moved to Denver.

At a youth for christ camp where the preacher got up in front of everyone and proclaimed that it was a great day for Christianity because Elvis Presley had died! I realize that most true Christians would be horrified to hear a supposed preacher say such words, but that was the start of what would turn a 16 year old wannabe preacher completely away from Christianity!

Celebrating my 6th birthday... while my mom cried over the loss of Elvis. She was a huge fan.

My Grandmother had tickets to his next concert she was heartbroken 💔 yet thankful she had already seen him 4 times! He’s on my playlist! ❤️ The King!!
