I'm pretty sure she got it backwards, being in love is the fleeting part, it comes and goes, e.g.emotion. Loving someone is a commitment, and there's no past tense for the term "love", as "loved" is proper, but not realistic. You either always will, or never did.

Maximum respect to your therapist but either you or the therapist got the terminologies twisted. Love is the ACTION, the DECISION. Being IN LOVE is the feeling.
