Your math is bad. 50+% of people pressing blue is infinitely more probable than 100% of people pressing red. if the rationale for a choice requires manufacturing a statistically impossible scenario to be comfortable making that choice, it's not actually the logical choice.

I want to emphasize that I believe there is a fair debate on both sides. I think there is logical merit in choosing red, while also considering whether blue represents a more moral choice. However, I view blue as redundant because everyone can press red to live with no conflict.

Now explain that logic to a three year-old or people with cognitive decline or under developed logic… Explain that don’t push your favorite color blue push the red button that may kill your grandma, oh my bad it’s a private vote. You don’t get to.

If children, animals, and ANY AND ALL life without full reasoning ability are counted, I'd press blue. A higher share of blue means more lives saved, and at that scale, the math makes blue the only choice.

@1MikeMcMichael Yeah, apparently the original poster confirmed in a private message response that that very critical piece of information was in his mind, but he didn't spell it out because he thought everyone would assume it meant literally every human being on the planet.

@JadenJTW @1MikeMcMichael He isn’t the original poster. There are versions of this that have been going around for years, many of them stipulating that the people pressing the button have to be able to understand the question. It’s not some new “this week on twitter” topic.

@HRS24381 @JadenJTW Sure, but their version is reworded with very strict parameters “everyone on earth takes a private vote” So that encompasses every person on earth no matter the circumstance.

@phthalobloo @HRS24381 @JadenJTW How does someone in a coma vote?

@1MikeMcMichael @phthalobloo @HRS24381 @JadenJTW One of the blues literally said to me they have to breathe a certain way to decide how they vote.. yeah they are delusional people.

@conservaduck33 @phthalobloo @HRS24381 @JadenJTW

“Everyone can choose red to survive” Yeah so it’s literally impossible for that to happen. You only need 51% of people to press blue to save everybody’s

How much you want to bet that most of the people pressing blue because it is the right choice for society are still gonna go out and text while driving...

LOLLL 😂 (Texting and driving while writing this)

😭😭😭

at the end. the Blue one won..

Man i'm disappointed. You framed it wrong. There are vulnerable in the equation you completely left out.

I'm seeing a yellow button. What does that do?

Ask your doctor

When they say they pressed blue and I’m the bad guy for choosing to guarantee tomorrow.

Blue Button Presser VICTORY!. The main pro in a (High Trust Society) is knowing your fellow man and woman will fight for you regardless of your relationship with them.

*sigh* its a moral question and it tells you more about yourself or other people based on their reasoning You will likely end up in one or more of these categories red- egotistical, pessimistic, low trust, individualistic blue- altruistic, optimistic, high trust, collectivism

This was said under the original, there is no banding together, you don't know how others voted and you have no influence over how others vote. The vote also includes children who might not think about the problem at all or might not even be able to understand the problem.

> says that everyone can choose red > Immediately says that "we're all in this together" is imaginary wishful thinking Is this supposed to be a satire on red voters or did you genuinely not think this through

It can essentially be boiled down to this

Now, apply this logic to: Why did we have to lockdown the planet for 2 years for a Virus with a 99.95% survival rate? Is it coincidence that the Blue button pushers are the same people who argued for Vaccine passports? And said the unvaccinated should be let to die instead of getting critical care? It's really just about feeling intellectually superior to others and FORCING your will upon them. They are more than welcome to drink to Kool-Aid.

Blue button pushers: “what about toddlers?” Me: “what about people in comas?” Adding random variables to the experiment defeats the whole point. If someone doesn’t understand the concept of voting or comprehend the rules, then whatever button they press is not an real vote imo

Brothers! Space Marines! Know your calling!

how this stupid discussion feels like

Me all day every day. 😂

not even tied to a train track. Blue is moving to the train track, red is staying off.

You need to risk your life to save me from a choice I made entirely on my own.

Like at this point its just natural selection

Ive noticed a lot of people flip their vote if you ask it this way: Red: you live Blue: over 50%, everyone lives under 50% everyone who pressed blue is Biblically raptured.

Simple: There are no downsides to red. You cannot control people’s choices without force. If you pick red it’s emphasizing 100% survivability and 0% risk at an individual maximum freedom of choice principle. If you are choosing blue, you’re likely caught up in the moral superiority play, but for the wrong reasons. And honestly I think the majority of blue voters if this thing was ACTUALLY real would vote red. It’s performative by nature, and even if not you’re advocating to enforce 50% of the population to vote blue in order for your bet to work. You are choosing control by force, disguising it as the morally superior choice, all while illuding the fact that if push comes to shove, you’d go red.

Over half of the people that screech "what about the children" and say they would press blue would press red in real life. Double that if they had to strap their heads into a blue guillotine and wait for the voting to finish.

For starters, when has everyone in human history ever all agreed to do the "logical thing". Also if EVERYONE on earth is choosing than that includes babies and the mentally impaired. Also also everybody would live if 100% of people chose blue without the chance of KILLING someone

🤔 The one that lets me eat more sandwiches. 🫠

Actually people are missing an important point. Red forces life. Life is only meaningful when chosen voluntarily. Blue is for those that want to end life. Red forces those that want to continue life. Blue is for the suicidal or the authoritarian that do not want to allow suicide. Red is neither suicidal nor authoritarian.

I much prefer this version of the hypothetical because it has a more definite risk for 45% of the world. The first version of this hypothetical is flawed in that technically yes everyone could pick red, however even 1% of the world is still 83 million people you're ok to kill.

>Calls blues idealists >Believes a 100% of people will follow the same strategy Just admit you're okay with mass death. Every real test proved the result won't be very one-sided. That's not a realistic option to consider - you're the one virtue signaling if you do that.
