The trick at a glance G1 & 2 - no finger grooves, no underbarrel rail. G3 finger grooves & rail G4 finger grooves, rail, *and* adjustable backstrap (you can see the ridge) G5 no finger grooves (again), Rail, adjustable backstrap - ambi mags and release (only one side at a time, not both), ambi slide lock the new: GV - no switches, but switches (?) I think they all had default front slide serrations here too, maybe not G6 - I didn't know this was a thing yet.

I have a 45.6 and what you get is a flat faced trigger, optics cut (like some gen5/V) long beaver tail, switch incompatibility (allegedly), and a new grip texture. There’s probably some other internal junk going on, but that’s what I’ve noticed.
