I still have the first S&W revolver I bought in 1994; A Model 686, .357, 2in barrel. I keep it next to the bed and is my first line of defense. Repaired it only once in 30 years and 75K rounds. An old timer told me that mechanically it's best to have a revolver than a pistol.
