Which part of your split brain will triumph this Amazon Prime Week — the consumer or the citizen?

Millionaire “professor” explains why wealth inequality is bad.

I fucking love Amazon

Haha, my consumer side is definitely winning right now! But I try to balance it out by supporting orgs like @alexgraytrust that promote mindful spending. Anyone else feeling the struggle? 😅

This dichotomy is only a problem under laissez-faire capitalism. China, for example, does not have the issue. Small shops, bookstores, specialty stores can be found all over the urban centers. At the same time, China also has a thriving online marketplace where consumers have ample choice, and affordable prices.

Why wouldn’t the “citizen” not support the hundreds of thousands of jobs that allow them to literally order almost anything they want and it will be delivered to their door in 24-72 hours???

I've never used Amazon. I get in my car and drive to the store

If you buy from the small shop, it supports the owner, and maybe one or two employees. Buying from Amazon, supports the seller of the goods, the Amazon warehouse worker, the manufacturer of the packaging, the delivery driver, and the EV manufacturer.

All you’ve done is consume your entire life. You’ve built nothing. You’re a narcissistic disgrace to the human story and a total moron.
