Republican lawmakers in Congress have subpoenaed the independent news outlet BreakThrough News, demanding its internal communications and financial records. "They specifically mention our coverage of Israel’s genocide in Gaza and of the ICE kidnappings and killings across the country that have sparked massive uprisings," says BreakThrough News journalist Rania Khalek. "This is a flagrant attack on our First Amendment rights as an independent media outlet, and everybody should be alarmed."

Pierre El-Rahi, the Maronite parish priest killed in southern Lebanon while trying to help parishioners wounded in an attack, and renewed his appeal for peace in Iran and across the Middle East, especially for innocent civilians and children suffering the consequences of war.

DAVID HUNDEYIN EXPLAINS U.S. ATTACK ON AFRICAN STREAM To make sense of social-media giants Meta, TikTok and YouTube suspending African Stream and other alternative media outlets, Breakthrough News’ Eugene Puryear (@eugenepuryear) and Rania Khalek (Rania Khalek) spoke to Nigerian investigative journalist David Hundeyin (David Hundeyin). However, at the time of this interview, TikTok had not yet permanently banned African Stream. Hundeyin explained how the bans proves the point African Stream has long maintained: That the US is an imperialist power.
