2012. Election year. Obama announces that he is finally getting tough on China and that there will be an investigation into China's trade of rare earths. China looted us during the Obama years. Even Schumer admitted that Obama didn't do anything to push back against China's unfair trade practices. By 2016 China was processing over 90% of the world's rare earths. 90%. Now their global domination of the rare earths market is one of the biggest cards they have to play against us.

Trump's China deal is the art of the squeal not the art of the deal. It's not a win to give China lower tariffs than our allies, while they buy less US soybeans & limit access to rare earths & magnets. We need a Manhattan Project for rare earths.

Bessent’s claim that the US could stop relying on China for rare earths is ridiculous: - China produces ~60% of global rare earths - Processes over 90% of them - Is the only country with the capacity/scale to refine high-purity REs - It took China 20 years to reach this level of dominance Even with massive subsidies, it would take many years to rebuild that capability... and the process would likely trigger a major rare earth bull market.

Is the real reason we attacked Iran because of oil? Was it a power-play against China? A power move to control China without confronting them directly? It would seem like the perfect play to control both Iran and China in one strategic move. I do know things aren’t always as they seem.
