Black members of Congress are often the ones fighting hardest to protect benefits and programs because they understand the need firsthand. Yesterday, Black voters were preparing to elect a Black member of Congress again. Today, they signed papers to cancel that part of the election until they can draw a new map where a white candidate has a better chance to win. That’s why we talk about race. Because they keep making it part of the story. Share if you care 🦾

The House has done its job. We passed a clean, nonpartisan bill to keep the government open and allow Congress additional time to finish the regular order appropriations process. What did Chuck Schumer and Senate Democrats do? They sent us back an unserious list of PARTISAN demands — $1.5 TRILLION in new spending to reopen the government and a $50 BILLION CUT to rural hospitals. That’s not governing for the American people. That’s political theater for their radical base.
