While David Seymour plans to introduce a daily attendance audit, evidence shows initiatives like the Healthy School Lunch programme have actually resulted in significant increases in attendance. Ignoring this evidence, Seymour still plans to cut back free lunches for kids.

@heroesatwork Seymour’s plan - how is he going to police the child who is clearly very sick,high temp, no strength to get out of bed let alone return to school, highly infectious with an excellent chance of passing virus onto teacher/students - who overrides parents to make that determination?

They’re going to give lunches to poor children not all children, putting a target on the backs of some of our children who will face bullying if not done sensitively (something Seymour probably hasn’t even contemplated). Arrogant prick!

So the schools should charge the Govt. for every Child/Teacher that is sick for not providing a healthy environment. Most viruses are airborne. The Govt. has done nothing to support the implementation of healthy schooling conditions rather has been reducing successful initiatives

Pretty crazy that they’re gonna cut the funding but still provide the same amount of lunches. Why didn’t anybody think of that before???

I'd love to see attendance stats from kura kaupapa. I bet they're way higher than conventional schools.

Nick it is labour who didn’t forward fund it. You have to go to them and have a go at them. For giving JT the TMP chairman 22$million for his trust for community services . And then he paid himself 500k per year and about 8 others . Then also gave 50k as donation to TMP
