He explained that despite working as a block mould worker, he kept checking on her after work and made sure she had food and basic care throughout the pregnancy. Later, she informed him that her sister was struggling and asked if she could stay with them, which he agreed to. When the pregnancy reached eight months, he reportedly travelled to her village in Ebonyi State with family members to inform her parents of his intention to marry her. He said the parents accepted and gave him a bride price list. At nine months pregnant, she gave birth, and he allegedly paid the hospital bills. He also said he opened a POS business for her to support her financially. However, he claimed problems started when she told him someone had sc@mm£d her of ₦140,000. He also alleged that a phone he bought for her was later claimed to have been stølen, only for him to later discover she had allegedly given it to the man who impregnated her.
