While everyone’s still barking and triggered about the dachshund line, Bessent quietly said the part that actually matters: “For the first time ever, we brought private companies to the G20.” Goldman. Eli Lilly. The people who actually build things and generate the trillions Then he said this:“National wealth is...

This is where the Liberals are wrong and the Conservatives are right. Carney wants to run the country by picking winners and losers, exactly as he laid out in his book “Values - Building a Better World for All” to shape the country in his own vision. Poilievre wants to remove gatekeepers and enable people to build careers and businesses with less government interference. The Conservatives understand that private companies create wealth. The Liberals take wealth from others and redistribute it. To Build a Better World for All.

The proof is in the pudding. This is a sample (1/4 trillion) of the private capital investment pouring into US factories. Not gov't debt or foreign companies buying Canadian ones counted as "investment."

That’s the Brookfield skim - “The world wants our decarbonized oil, they have to buy it eventually!!!” Well how about that, Brookfield adjacent companies provide this oil … that is still theoretical

Bang on, State run enterprise like China with Canadian characteristics is what is being sold but since profit and shareholder value aren’t part of the Carney exercise m, smart money will not seek low returns, bureaucracy and an industrial strategy hamstrung by green infrastructure which might create a virtuous green cycle amongst like minded social engineers(socialists) but not sound ROI or drive GDP productivity on per a capita basis. No the model is; give business a set of winning conditions and let enterprise drive the bus not bureaucrats.

Productivity growth is what increases national wealth. Trudeau took the exact opposite approach and Carney is continuing with that. Trudeau and his Liberals choked the wealth generator O&G and mining sectors, while throwing billions at the EV battery industry was a disaster. Now, Carney wants to give business that are in danger of closing subsidies. Prolonging the inevitable doesn't fix the problem of Trudeau's poor productivity. The federal government holds all the levers to improve the business environment in order to increase productivity, but are hell bent on not pulling them. That would mean admitting that Trudeau screwed up, the phd economist was wrong and Poilievre was right.

Fascism : a populist political philosophy, movement, or regime that exalts nation and often race above the individual, that is associated with a centralized autocratic government headed by a dictatorial leader, and that is characterized by economic and social regimentation and suppression of opposition A defining characteristic of economic fascism is that private property and business ownership are permitted, but are in reality controlled by government through a business-government partnership, where Government is the senior partner.

Agreed but companies also know they can get endless amounts of tax payer funds from countries like Canada.

We taught our kids two-way streets. Ottawa ran a one-way. For decades we lived inside the American factory system and called it sovereignty. They bought. We supplied. Then we stacked net-zero gates, permit years, and a governing brand that treats competence as optional. They are pulling work home and scoring sites on cost, power, speed, and who they must hire. Proximity is not ownership. History is not a strategy. Fraser already has the middle sending 42 cents of every dollar upstairs. Shops say they cannot ride three months of 50%. House closed. Deal locked. PLA talks we read in Beijing. Trump wants competitive. We offered rules. A two-way street means our energy is built, our permits close, and the next plant has a reason to choose Ontario over Ohio. Slogans do not make you indispensable. Kitchen tables are not full. Midnight does not fill them. Become the place they still choose — or keep demanding they honour a purchase order from 1965.

Carney should take a break from his memes and listen to Bessent - he might learn something.

Carney's book is centred around switching from market-based capitalism to values-based capitalism. Carney scripted the end of trade negotiations and promoted the beginning of "a war" to start this process. He's been telling us all as much for 17 months, but who was listening?

Compare Canada building train cars with tax dollars. US building AI centers, high tech in medicine, planning to return to the moon, with private investments..

This is why I think the Liberals want to impose a National Energy Program on Alberta. Their big gov centralization of power in the PMO and control over industry suggests they want control over Alberta's oil & gas revenues, and possibly production. #ableg #AlbertaIndependence

Canada should listen and learn from this. The socialists have taken over and are destroying the economy. They used to rely on free access to the US economy, but that’s been cut off. So focus on deregulation, lower taxes and innovation.

How's what Carney's doing with Canada's balance sheet any different than US? Trump handed tens of billions to Intel, TSMC, because they're strategically important. Carney is doing the same with miners, steel mills, and shipyards.

“National wealth is created by private enterprise… The government doesn’t create wealth. What it does is set up policies that enable private enterprise and the citizenry to thrive.” That statement alone is the most salient truth that eludes Leftist logic.

from 1763, Canada has economically been a oligarchy most Cdns don't think of it as such because Cdn oligarghs were smart enough to not make Cdns suffer enough to make them question it but in 21st C, oligarchs got "woke" and imposed anarcho-tyranny on top of economic oligarchy

You Heard It Here First: Chamath Predicts US Sovereign Wealth Fund Template On E212 (Jan 24th), the besties discussed Donald J. Trump floating the idea of the US government owning 50% of TikTok in exchange for a permit to operate. Chamath Palihapitiya thought this could be a template for the future: "There's a question that this raises, which is, does it make sense for the American government to be a little bit smarter going forward about how it allocates incentives and resources?" "Wouldn't it make sense where when you create incredible economic incentives and upside for private investors and investment, for some portion of that gain to go back to the American people?" "Is that a bad thing? I don't think so." "Would it enrich America? I think so." "Would it make it easier for people to feel like they're participating in all of these incredible gains? I also think so." "My prediction is that this becomes more of a template for the future." "It'll be more about creating incentives and allocating those incentives for a share of the upside." "And I think that there is a really strong economic argument for America to do that." **Fast forward 10 days** Today, President Donald J. Trump, alongside Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and Commerce Secretary Nominee Howard Lutnick, announced plans for a US Sovereign Wealth Fund! Trump: " We're going to have a sovereign wealth fund, which we've never had." Lutnick: "The extraordinary size and scale of the US government and the business it does with companies should create value for American citizens." Trump: "And as an example, TikTok, we're going to be doing something perhaps with TikTok, and perhaps not." "And we might put that in the sovereign wealth fund."
