The Sameer Project is working with extremely limited... resources trying to support Palestinians in Gaza. This video is of a family in the Refaat Alareer Camp whose tent collapsed on them during a rainstorm. This family of four kids lost their mom who was murdered by the military occupation, and shortly after that lost their grandfather. The grandmother is taking care of the injured father and four children on her own. We provide coupons, medical support, mental health care, schooling & more in our camps! Your donations are making miracles! In Gaza, certain vegetables grow like tomatoes, cabbage, peppers, eggplant, potatoes, zucchini and cucumber. We were able to secure a kilo of tomatoes, cabbage, peppers, eggplant and potatoes (total 5 kilos) for each of the Refaat Alareer families. Each bag of veggies cost $51 including the 22.5% commission. Donate here: Each of the 25 families in the Refaat Alareer camp has a sick or wounded child or more. Our focus is to provide them with the medication and nutrients they need during the famine. Unfortunately nothing is confirmed of the news of aid trucks coming in today, and apparently only 9 trucks came in. Gaza is still in famine, the military occupation is making sure that that doesn’t change. The Sameer Project received a plea from the Shifaa hospital tent where Doaa was with her two kids asking for help. Doaa doesnt have a phone but our team coordinated with the journalists to get Doaa and her kids to the Refaat Alareer the next morning. Support this case: In Refaat Alareer camp, Doaa and her kids were provided a tent, and they have access to water and a daily meal. Her children got registered in school and started attending already. In addition, our caretaker Amal does daily rounds to check on Doaa and see what she needs. Doaa lost her eyes due to the military occupation and dreams of a day where she can see her children’s faces again. Till then, the Sameer Project will stand by her side providing her with love and care. Our key mission is to use your donations to the most vulnerable groups in the Gaza Strip. Refaat Alareer Camp provides shelter for sick and wounded children and their families. It was named after the writer Refaat Alareer to honor him and his legacy. Support: Commission to get cash has been around 40-45% for months now so the camp residents didn’t get cash but food and packages instead. However, thanks to your support, we recently gave each family 500 shekels each ($150). With 45% commission, the total was $8,265. Water, medication, transport to hospitals and one large meal a day are all covered by the Sameer Project. This money provides some agency and will allow them to buy things they need and want. Takhroj Al tawjihi (high school graduation) is a big deal in Palestine, let alone when you study and graduate during a genocide. From no lights in the evening to bad internet, students in Gaza did the impossible to finish their high school degrees. Support students: The Refaat Alareer Camp is no different from other camps in Gaza today with the tawjihi celebrations. Tears of joy and sweet distributions when the students got their grades but also remembering and dedicating this moment of joy to our martyrs. This celebration is a reminder of hope, of a future for these young men and women. Dreams of going to university and being a part of rebuilding Gaza in a liberated Palestine. One day, we will get there. The Sameer Project camps host around 117 families and one of them is the Batoul Camp that has around 27 vulnerable families. On June 15th, we distributed diapers and formula to those who need it for $217, including 11% commission. This included 6 packs of baby diapers and 5 adult diapers and 5 formula. Help here: The Batoul Camp will soon be closed and the families will join our other camps. This is due to lack of funds as donations dropped a lot recently. Even simple things like providing diapers and formula are not consistent due to the lack of support. Caring for 117 families with patients in a genocide is expensive and your contribution is needed. Yesterday, the residents of the Refaat Alareer camp had no food just like everyone else in Gaza, and our team went to the markets to try and find anything, donate: Eventually our incredible team found 20 kilos of sweet potatoes. 20 kilos for more than 150 people … Even though the 35 families and our team had to share a small plate, it was like finding a treasure. Each kilo cost $21.25 with 10% commission so a total of $425. For today we found eggplants and the team is going to get it. We hope we close the deal to feed the patients in the Refaat Alareer camp but the situation remains dire. On the day of Mosab’s death, Iman, our speech therapist and camp resident distributed Molokhye (Palestinian dish) & rice to the Refaat Alareer camp residents. A camp with 30 families that feels like a family, support them here: Iman told us that she saw Mosab on his way out while distributing, and she told him “when you’re back, I’ll cook you Molokhye.” He was wearing a white shirt and smiled telling her that he looks forward to it. Mosab never came back and never had molokhye. Instead, the car he was in got bombed and his white shirt was drenched in blood. We are still processing the killing of our beloved Mosab but we also know that the camp is well taken care of. 3,430 rice meals feeding over 8,500 people were distributed on August 21st in Central Gaza. Total cost was $25,692 with 11% commission, support: The Sameer Project team gave out 2,430 meals in Souq Jdeed / Balata Camp in Nuseirat. This is the largest camp in Nuseirat with over 2,000 families. 760 were given to Asqalan Camp in Deir El Balah and the remaining to Refaat Alareer Camp in Zawayde. Support: But now summer vacation is over! Miss Hanan & Miss Mona are back to teaching with their assistant Miss Warda. The joy of the children (and their parents 😅) was indescribable. Children in the camp are having more than a meal a day and we can see life and energy come back into their little bodies. We hope flow of food continues and increases to reasonable amounts. Summer is here and it’s really hot in Gaza reaching 30 degrees Celsius / 86 Fahrenheit. Now imagine that being a sick patient in a tent. Help now: That’s the case for many of the families in The Sameer Project camps and many cases get seizures due to the heat. We have multiple solar panels in our camps but they can’t provide fans for everyone, so our medical team assessed those most in need. The Sameer Project needs your support in purchasing fans for the families and money to fix some fans we already have. A fan approximately costs $525 for a new one (if found) and $280 for a used one. That’s aside from the prices for keeping the fans running. The Refaat Alareer Camp welcomed a new baby, little Mohammad. With God’s blessing Mohammad was born and the delivery went well. Support: The Refaat Alareer team gave Mohammad’s mother a little baby package as a gift after her birth. The package included: shampoo, baby oil, sanitary pads, diapers, onesies, baby bottle, 2 baby pyjamas, bag, 2 towels, 2 baby blankets and a pacifier. The total cost with 11% commission was $330. Having a baby during a genocide and a famine is extremely difficult. When finding out they’re pregnant, women in Gaza used to say the genocide would end by the time he/she will be born. Unfortunately they were wrong and we are about to enter the 23rd month of the genocide. After Mosab was killed and the camp got attacked, the Refaat Alareer camp was full of sorrow. Last month was so difficult on the whole Sameer team and our camp. So the team suggested getting an ice cream truck and entertainment for the children, donate here: The Sameer Project team rented the ice cream truck with 1,000 pieces of ice cream and the truck’s entertainment team. We started in the Refaat Alareer camp in Zawayde and then went to other camps in central Gaza. This ice cream day cost $3,283 with 10% commission, which includes the ice cream and the transport of the truck around 5 camps in central Gaza. This campaign was named “Gaza’s children deserve life” by the ground team in Gaza. We hope to continue with our children initiatives who have spent 21 months of their lives under bombs and 5 months in famine. After suffering extreme injuries to her shoulder, leg, and elbow from an airstrike targeting the Mosque she was praying in, Alaa came to the Refaat Alareer Camp for treatment and rehabilitation. The family evacuated South from Al Shifa Hospital during the land incursion in the North. She has been receiving daily wound cleanings and starting physiotherapy, as well as participating in camp events and school. But Alaa’s immune system is weak due to all her injuries and she recently came down with an infection that had her admitted to the hospital. But The Sameer Project’s care and support followed her there. We brought her a package of nutritions food to help with her healing, as well as some treats like nuts and pastries to lift her spirits. The cases that we support in the Refaat Alareer Camp would in any other situation, be inpatients in hospitals. However our team of doctors serve them with excellent treatment onsite, clearing up hospital space, and providing custom care. Donate to the Camp Campaign so we can bring in more families to help. Palestinian Bedouins are an indigenous semi-nomadic and pastoral community, primarily tracing their ancestral roots to the Negev Desert (al-Naqab).HELP: Today, an estimated 40,000 to 50,000 live across the West Bank, East Jerusalem, and the Gaza Strip. Bedouins in Gaza mainly lived in the Southern parts of the Strip and had a traditional sheep-herding lifestyle. The genocide took away all of that from the community and just like everyone else, Bedouins are now displaced and suffering to meet their most basic needs. For Nakba day, a group of Bedouin women visited our Refaat Alareer Camp to sing traditional songs and dances. This was part of strengthening our connection to our heritage and culture, and to learn about the similarities and differences from the various communities that exist in Gaza. Tomorrow, Saturday, there is a rainstorm in Gaza that will last 4 days. Unfortunately camps will get flooded and people will get sick from the cold. The genocide in Gaza didn’t end. Donate now: The Sameer Project is providing tarps, blankets and tents that are purchased from the market in Gaza. 25% of the aid is being allowed in since the “ceasefire” so prices are not affordable to most Palestinians in Gaza. On December 21st, The Sameer Project set up 3 tents in Karama Camp, Bureij, Central Gaza. The total cost was $635 with 9% commission. The port camp in Western Gaza city has thousands of families and no medical point. The wounded and ill get little to no medical support. Donate here: This is why the Sameer Project x Translating Falasteen team is providing regular wound campaigns, amongst other medical days. This week, the team provided care and wound change for 20 cases in the camp. Without this care, the wounds could get infected and amputations might be necessary. Things as simple as gauze and antiseptic are hard to get a hold of and are currently extremely expensive. With the high temperatures, tents provide a huge sense of relief for Palestinians in Gaza. The Sameer Project continues to set up tents for those displaced in Gaza, support here: On the 26th of July, the Sameer Project team set up 6 tents in Sahel camp in Deir El Balah. Each tent cost around $425 with 7% commission, so the total is $2,550. Thanks to your donations, six families have found shelter during really difficult times. We are looking to set up more tents in Deir El Balah but we need your support. We often get asked about orphanages in Gaza. In Islam, the definition of an orphan is a child who lost their mother OR father, or both. Support orphan camps: In Gaza, if a child loses one parent they stay with the other but if they lose both, most of the time an aunt or an uncle from the family adopts them. It is extremely rare that a child is left all alone and with the very exceptional cases where this happens, the child is taken to the UNICEF camp. This gorgeous little one that you see dancing lives in the Amal French Orphanage Camp in Khan Younis. This camp accepts widows (women) and children only, where they get care and support from mutual aid groups.
