The UCP government recently lifted the moratorium on coal mining in our mountains to avoid a lawsuit that they caused because of their own incompetence. This government promised to protect our mountains and yet here we are calling open season on mining and risking irreparable damage to our economy, agriculture sector, recreational lands and water. Remember when there was a shortage of children’s pain medication and Danielle Smith’s government spent $80 million to import the medication from Turkey? We’ve now learned the UCP were warned the supply they ordered would arrive AFTER the regular supply would come and after the crisis had largely passed. It is possible to do things better. We can respond to crisis without panic spending, we can listen to experts, and we can build a more competent government. For Alberta. For all of us.
