ICE also admitted last week that they’ve been violating their own policy by arresting people in immigration courthouses. No agents were outside of courtrooms today. I am waiting for more answers from Secretary Markwayne Mullin about this egregious violation of law and policies as we keep fighting to hold ICE accountable in New York.

Despite that, they still entered the courthouse, handcuffed a man in the lobby, and removed him from the building. The Melbourne Symphony Orchestra is trying to have my case thrown out of court on a legal technicality, in an attempt to avoid addressing the facts of the case, ie whether they discriminated against me for my political belief. What political belief would that be I wonder? Oh yes, the one where genocide is bad, Palestinian journalists are journalists, international law is international law, and the truth is the truth. The Federal Court of Australia will hear the MSO's interlocutory application to my case on 17 March at 11am AEDT. The MSO will argue that because I was engaged under a particular type of contract, I shouldn't be protected by Australia's workplace discrimination laws. This is a disingenuous reading of the law that is also very dangerous, for if it were to succeed it would create a loophole that could strip away discrimination protections for thousands of freelance artists and anyone working under similar contracts - not just in the arts, but across all industries. This case goes far beyond what happened to me. This is a fight for basic rights at work, and I'm calling on Australians to stand with me.
