Some men look better in their 30s and 40s but it's not common. The vast majority of people, regardless of gender, do not look better with age.

It’s partly true but only because women at all ages take a more holistic view of attractiveness. Men do not become better looking with age.

This is of course physical attraction though. As a man gets older he may get uglier, but he also tends to gain status and resources.

An older man that takes care of his health and body while also being more mature, successful and confident can be just as or more attractive than his 20 year-old self.

Women choose courtship, men pick wives. Women are conservative with who they date, men are conservative with who they marry. Women are picky when it comes to sex, men are picky when it comes to commitment. To be a wife you have to be selected. We need Fathers to teach this.

Men's attractiveness also peaks much later than women's, though. It isn't until the 30s and even 40s that the average man gets the rough action hero look. Before that, many men have 'fresh' boyish faces that make them look weak and unmasculine.

Look at male heartthrobs in media. (Harry Styles, Timothee Chalamet, Leo as I mentioned.) 40s will be well past it, for most them. The “action hero look” appeals more to other men than to women.

Saying that men age like fine wine is never meant to be taken literally. It was a saying to indicate that a man’s overall attractiveness increases with age because they tend to reach their peak earning years and value, in conjunction to aging a bit slower, physically.
