While some postmasters can barely make ends meet, the Post Office chief exec was paid of £870k - including a whacking great bonus of £455k. In parliament he tried to justify executives receiving bonuses as a way to "incentivise people to do the right thing". Ridiculous.🧵1/2

The metric used to calculate part of the Post Office executives' bonuses was based on false information in the accounts relating to the inquiry into the Horizon scandal. The executives must return all inquiry-related bonuses immediately. 2/2

@SenseiChanning Absolute crooks. They gave themselves huge bonuses they were not entitled to by submitting false figures, didn't they? They thought they deserved it for firefighting after the horizon scandal. You literally couldn't make it up..

Paula Vennells should be stripped of her CBE immediately. A friend of mine was accused, and it had a hugely negative impact on her life & mental health. She was unable to get more employment due to wrongful claims of theft, in addition to her character being assassinated. The entire saga is a total disgrace.

For the rest of us, 'doing the right thing' is just our actual bloody job and your incentive is that you get sacked if you don't do it.

So he needs the incentive of an extra £455k to.get out of bed and do more than go through the motions.

They can afford to fill their pockets but not to pay a proper wage. I can't say I'm shocked. The postal service has been destroyed by the private sector.

Sack him for just thinking he needs a bonus for doing the right things. 455k bonus and for what? The mess is still there and he should be stripped of his job right now

Can you imagine what qould happen if private companies got their hands on NHS

Do the Right Thing. The evidence is overwhelming that they are incapable of doing the right thing for either a King's Ransom or Nothing at all.

@DawnButlerBrent I recall a post office being closed down in 2015ish, and this branch throwing out massive quantities of stamps, safes and other stock. People helped themselves to these items. This must have been similar in other unceremonious closures all over the country. Who was responsible!
