While the rain was still pouring down, first responders rushed into action in Kerr County. In the air, on the ground and by boat, they rescued several hundred people over several days – some trapped in vehicles, some in flooded homes, even some found clinging to trees miles from... where they started — all with no way out. This is one of the rescues performed by DPS’ Aircraft Operations Division. The joint efforts of first responders – state, local and federal – have been tireless. “The events of the last week have been devastating,” said Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Colonel Freeman F. Martin. “But through it all, our first responders have shown remarkable strength and determination. I am incredibly proud not only of the men and women of DPS, but of all our local, state and federal partners. Their combined work, day after day, speaks volumes about the spirit of Texans, and it is a true honor to work among them.” #protectandserve #kerrvilleTexasshow more

First responders did a heroic job. I hope that you stay involved and hold government officials accountable for a disaster that they knew would eventually happen and was completely avoidable. Way too many precious lives were lost and even more put at serious risk, including your own.

Last week, 3 people fell through the ice in Jamaica Bay. Thanks to the incredible work of the NYPD and FDNY, they were rescued and brought to safety. This winter weather has been tough, but our first responders are tougher.

I congratulate our first responders, our civilian heroes, on their professional holiday. The State Emergency Service of Ukraine is a truly strong, courageous, and professional system that works, that is well organized, and that guarantees Ukrainians reliable protection. 56,000 professionals, including more than 10,000 women – these are people who care about what happens to others, and all of this truly is extraordinary service to goodness and humanity. Since the start of the full-scale war, nearly a thousand first responders have been honored with Ukrainian state awards, and six first responders have been awarded the Golden Star of the Hero of Ukraine – two of them posthumously. I ask you to remember each and every one – all the first responders who gave their lives protecting the lives of others. Thank you for saving lives and rescuing our people! Glory to Ukraine!

Today is Thank A First Responder Day. Here’s a little throwback to spending the day with Rural Metro Fire in Tucson, Arizona and trying on some of their gear. Today we share our gratitude for first responders and their families. Their hard work and sacrifice keeps us all safe. We are proud to be hosting a great day at Australia Zoo for all first responders with Fortem Australia. And Thanks again to rural metro, they shared knowledge of how they fight fires and keep the community safe, and we shared some tips on the best ways to rescue rattlesnakes out of homes!

Horses have long played a vital role in protecting and serving Texans, and this week’s grand opening of the new Texas Department of Public Safey’s (DPS) Mounted Patrol Equine Facility underscores their continued importance. DPS is proud of the men and women who make up the Mounted Patrol Unit (MPU) and the hard work and dedication they put into making sure they – along with their equine partners – are fully prepared to protect and serve this state. From the Capitol grounds to the southern border, these teams are a powerful symbol of safety, service and tradition in action. Thank you to FOX 7 Austin for sharing their story

Rain is still coming down over the Hill Country while our first responders continue to rescue folks in Kerr County. We are so appreciative of the men and women who risk their lives to help others.

All night long, our rescuers worked in Ternopil, and search-and-rescue operations are still ongoing. 22 people are still missing – the effort to find them continues. More than 230 first responders from nine regions of Ukraine have been deployed. In some areas, work can only be done by hand because of the severe destruction and fragmentation of the structures. This complicates the search. As of now, 26 people are confirmed dead, including three children. My condolences to their families and loved ones. I am grateful to all our people who have been working on the ground for almost 24 hours straight. Rescuers, medical teams, police officers – my thanks to every single one of you. It is critically important that on such hard days, despite all of Russia’s attacks and all its terror, our people always know they can count on rescue and assistance.

🚨Marc Andreessen on Federal Workers working from home: "Most Federal workers never came back to work. They work from home. Something like half. They still draw paychecks, they still have their jobs, but they're not in the office. There are some agencies that are both unionized AND have civil service protections and they've negotiated a deal where people have to come in one day a MONTH. What they do is they come in on the last day of the month and the first day of the following month so they only have to be there for two days then they go move somewhere cheaper and keep the same paycheck. This is what DOGE aims to stop."

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue’s Florida Task Force 1 (#FLTF1) remains on the ground in Venezuela, working side by side with the Department of State and local first responders as search and rescue efforts continue following the devastating earthquakes. With every conversation, we are reminded that while we may wear different uniforms and speak with different accents, the calling to serve is the same. We have witnessed extraordinary resilience, dedication, and a deep love for the communities these men and women call home. It is an honor to stand alongside them during one of the most challenging moments they have faced. Their strength, compassion, and determination continue to inspire our team every single day. I have been charged in a federal indictment sought by the Department of Justice. This political prosecution is an attack on all of our First Amendment rights. I’m not backing down, and we’re going to win.

From picking potatoes as a child in Caribou to working on behalf of Maine’s communities, small businesses, and first responders, I have always been proud of my Aroostook County roots and the strong work ethic they instilled in me. I will never stop showing up and working hard for the people of Maine.

I am heartbroken to see reports that the wildfire has entered the townsite of Jasper. The safety of everyone is our number one priority, and thankfully the town was evacuated earlier this week. I want to thank all of our firefighters and crews who have been hard at work fighting this fire day and night. The Town of Jasper and Jasper National Park have all hands on deck. Alberta Wildfire is on the ground to supporting them. Our government will have more to say tomorrow, but in the meantime please keep Jasper in your thoughts and your prayers. #JasperStrong #AlbertaStrong

Happy Juneteenth! On this day in 1865, the last slaves in Galveston, Texas were finally freed. This day is a celebration of the resilience and strength of our ancestors, and a reminder of the work we still have to do to create the future they dreamed of.
