Buttigieg: Usually you're trying to fight those kinds of price effects that consumers are facing, not doing what the Trump administration is doing, which is actively causing them. Vladimir Putin launched a war. The result was that there were supply shocks and oil went up, and then we all did everything that we could in the administration, and all of us as Americans, did what we could to deal with that. Here you have a very different situation. The president launched a war of choice, and now we're all dealing with the consequences and the people who are paying the heaviest price, of course, are the service members, many of whom have given their lives, over 200 have reportedly been injured. But also every American is paying the price. Mortgage rates are going up because of this war. Grocery prices are going to go up because of this war. And of course, the price of gas is already way up because of Donald Trump's war.

William Swenson, U.S Army (Ret.), said “there was loss of life because we believed in the mission, and ultimately, as service members, that's what we do.” “Our war is part of our history. Our service overseas is part of our history. If we don't tell these stories, we as a nation don't know how to always improve,” he told Margaret Brennan. “We are an imperfect nation that's always trying to improve, and it's through our history as a lens that we look forward on how to do better next time.”

Jayapal: This vote shows that, once again, in a bipartisan way, the House passed the War Powers Resolution. This reflects that we will continue to put pressure on this president to stop this war. This is not a partisan issue. Vast majorities of Americans believe that this is an unconstitutional, illegal war that needs to stop. It was not authorized by Congress, and it has cost us the lives of 18 service members, millions who have been displaced, thousands who have been injured, and, on top of that, rising gas prices here at home and a lack of focus on the real issue of affordability that Americans are facing.

Is anyone clear on what, if anything, the U.S. is doing to get American citizens out of the Middle East? Are they seriously just waiting for people to get in touch with a consulate or embassy, and hope for the best?
