Fascinating, lately seems like Java's bug fixing has been on the lower quality side with lots of undesired results from what I hear other players complain. Like wool stairs/slabs not blocking vibrations being WAI (thankfully has been reopened). Wonder why the shift.

Bug tracker moderator here. If I were to speculate, the reason for why the bug report received low priority is likely that the description is mainly technical details / code analysis, rather than showing gameplay impact. Both are good, but focus on the latter.

Even if you think something is obvious, in a good bug report you still mention it.

THIS is why I don't like watching pure vanilla minecraft youtubers anymore. Y'all just gotta complain about something for engagement. I get you wanting to be on the cutting edge of some new tech, and that's cool and all, but come on.

On surface level, yea I agree with you, but that's not why you were pointing out this bug though. You were pointing this bug out because another bug you liked was patched.

Well yea of course? I think that certain bugs should have a toggle or some in-game way of interacting with it, like how observers were aiming to be a in-game BUD Switch, not that they completely replaced them, but you get what I mean.
