While Tom Canton here is probably not wrong that if Arsenal were 50% more clinical it’s a different story, I think that implies Arsenal haven’t been clinical this season and that’s just off. Arsenal have the third largest over performance compared to xG this season and are at +14%,... show more

I think it could also be an issue with terminology. “Clinical” in terms of shooting accuracy - yes, I agree with you Scott. We have been clinical as measured by xG over-performance. But clinical just means efficient. And I don’t think we have been efficient with our chances / box entries. We literally don’t take the shot when we should do. In that regard, I agree with Tom’s take that we could be more “clinical”. Or as Mikel puts it… more “box efficient”.

Being clinical isn't just about over performing xG, it can mean not taking a shot at all, or not making the right pass at the crucial moment

That’s not what he said so that’s not what I responded to

We have a chance creation issue, not a finishing issue I agree

What's that mean then? We basically lack creativity so even finishing above expected goals it's not enough?

We should be more creating more threat from the possessions nd dangerous situations we get into. Some of that is form some of that is quality but a lot this season is from injury / players recovering from injury.

In a weird turn of events our defence has arguably been a bigger problem this season 👀

Has our set-pieces efficiency anything to do with that xg over performance ?

This is where watching games helps Scott over just looking at numbers.

If you’re watching you should see that Arsenal have in fact done a good job of being clinical win the chances that they have. Do you not think that matches what you’ve seen? It’s what I’ve seen, the problem would be volume of chances not a team that is isn’t clinical
