Did you know the song was actually written in protest against the IRA Warrington bombings? On Feb 26 1993 the IRA murdered two innocent children aged 3 and 12 in Cheshire, England. The Cranberries were on tour in England at the time, not far from where the bombing took place. Dolores O'Riordan, lead singer of the Cranberries, began recording the song immediately after the attack in condemnation of the killing and in creation of a “song for peace, peace among England and Ireland." The lyrics, “another head hangs lowly, child is slowly taken, another mother's breaking, heart is taking over” are references to the murdered children and their suffering family. “It’s not me, it’s not my family,” refers to the killings not being done in her name, her family’s name, or Ireland’s name as she saw it. Zombie is an Irish, British, and global anthem enjoyed across the world, and rightfully so. Jacques Tourneur on how he got Val Lewton to agree to make 'I Walked with a Zombie' (1943) & the reason why he likes it more than 'Cat People' (1942): "One day I said to Val Lewton: ‘I have an idea. We are going to take Jane Eyre and we're going to do a remake of it without telling anyone, simply by radically changing the setting’. And that is how 'I Walked with a Zombie' came about. In fact, it is Jane Eyre. In order to give it a different tone, I decided to use the black singer, Sir Lancelot, as a sort of Ancient Greek Chorus commenting on the action. In my opinion, that film is more profound than 'Cat People' (1942), it is less childish." This is the future of storytelling. Not in some distant way… but like right now. I made this using AI. It’s called PAPERCUT. A new animated film concept I'm developing. It's not perfect, but it gets the creative juices flowing. The idea came from my son. We were just talking and he said he wished there was a movie about a Blasian kid surviving a zombie apocalypse. And it hit me… that movie doesn’t exist. Not because it’s not a good idea, but because it would probably never get made. So I made it. And once I started, I couldn’t stop thinking about it. Like where did all the great zombie movies go? The ones that felt original, that had personality. The Shaun of the Deads, the George Romero classics. What if you took that energy… but made it animated? Stylized. A little fun. A little scary. Something a kid could watch, but still feel the danger. That’s what this is. Honestly… this doesn’t happen without AI. This idea just stays a conversation. But now it’s real. That’s the shift. You don’t have to wait around anymore hoping someone says yes. You can just go make the thing.

The judge is not having it from this one. This is 18 year old Kaitlyn Jones and she was arrested for assaulting a 14 Year old middle schooler and posting the attack on Tik Tok. The defense decided to plead no contest to the charges with hopes for a deferred sentence. Upon reviewing her case and history, the judge is not being fooled by her. Her request for a deferred sentence was denied and in the end she was sentenced to 45 days in jail and one year probation.
