One of the most crucial lessons I’m trying to teach my sons is to do hard things, even when they’re scared. I play ultimate frisbee with buddies from church every 2 weeks and I’ve been encouraging my 9 y/o son to come play. He’s been scared because there’s no other kids and he wasn’t sure if he could keep up. He compared playing with the guys to being like Bugs Bunny against the Monstars from Space Jam. Finally, last night after watching for a game, he came up and asked to play. All the guys pumped his tires and he went out and had the time of his life. After the first game he asked if he could take his shirt off (confidence level 9000.) He hasn’t stopped talking about it since. I told him afterwards I was proud of him for pushing through being scared and reminded him of the results on the other side. These little lessons are things I can point him to for the rest of his life. They’re also reminders for me. Do hard things. Even when scared.

This man has a fast food addiction, it was completely took over him. At first he tries to work to feed his addiction but then he realized he could just beg his followers for money and for a while it worked. Then when the money dried up, he got a job doing Uber Eats so he can steal the customers food, this is a grown man, I can’t decide whether I feel sorry for him due to his addiction or is he just being lazy.

Brandon Durham should be alive, but his life was tragically and unnecessarily taken all because he needed help! He called 911 for an alleged break in and when Las Vegas Officer arrived, they executed Mr. Durham. Calling 911 for help shouldn't result in a death sentence. This is outrageous. How do you shoot the naked guy first? He's obviously the homeowner versus a guy that's completely clothed and hooded. As always, when they're Black it's “eliminate the threat", when they're white it's "apprehend the suspect". The preservation of life, or attempts to deescalate, don't apply to us. It's essentially shoot first and ask questions later.

When he spotted Deputy James McDonel, he ran over and asked for an autograph. SNYDER: Putin is capable of being very good at judging and manipulating humans. He's very good at manipulating Trump. But he's not aware of his own soft spots. He doesn't see that he has any soft spots. But his big soft spot is Ukraine. He's developed this in the last 15 years, he hasn't always thought this, but his big soft spot is his notion that Russia has this history that lasted for 1,000 years, which is totally absurd. That in that history Russia and Ukraine have always been together, and that Ukraine therefore has never really existed as any kind of autonomous thing. Insofar as it seems to, that's just conspiratorial work of Russia's enemies who have put false ideas in our heads and so on. How I would put it is: the people who seem to be incredibly nihilistic often have some kind of soft spot, and for Putin it's precisely Ukraine. The way he talks about Ukraine is very different from the way he talks about other things. He presents it as a metaphysical truth that Ukraine and Russia have always been together. It's palpable that he actually believes this. Then you get into this basic problem with what I've been trying to analytically call the politics of small numbers.
