Former Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi says that M/o Planning, Development and Special Initiatives, lead by Ahsan Iqbal, is not responsible for inflation. Their focus is on long-term development initiatives. It’s collective responsibility of the cabinet to look into the matters related to governance and inflation. Minister Iqbal was top performer in the previous government during 16 months.

At the #CIIPartnershipSummit2025 press conference, I responded on MOUs signed by the previous government: Government is a continuous institution. Parties may come and go, but the responsibility to support industry and honour commitments is permanent. We have already reached out to investors who signed MoUs with the previous government, and we are actively providing them with an enabling, trustworthy environment. Policy continuity is essential for investor confidence, and we are fully committed to ensuring it.

During the previous AIADMK tenure: For a student who completed MBBS abroad and wanted to pursue PG medicine or practice in Tamil Nadu, the mandatory "tariff" before reaching the PG stage was approximately ₹5.54 lakh. - Internship fee: ₹2 lakh - MGR University NOC fee: ₹3.54 lakh - Medical Council Registration: ₹20,000 During the AIADMK tenure, FMGs generally did not receive a stipend during their internship (CRRI) in government hospitals. Now under the DMK government: Starting July 2022, the current government waived the ₹2 lakh internship fee and reduced the university NOC fee from over ₹3 lakh to roughly ₹30,000. During a meeting with IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva, we discussed support for Ukraine and agreed on further cooperation. I spoke about the implementation of reforms to strengthen the economy and create a transparent, competitive environment. A significant result is the successful completion of the Fund’s recent mission. This is an important step toward further strengthening Ukraine’s financial stability. I am grateful to the IMF for its support and for the programs that help maintain the resilience of our economy. This is an important signal of confidence in Ukraine for international partners.

If you look at the CPI in 1900 and you look at it in 1800, it was down by 50%. So for a hundred years in America, prices went down. And during that time, we had the Industrial Revolution.” “We had the most rapid period of economic growth in the history of America, which was after the Civil War and into the early 1900s. All the time prices were coming down.” “Today, the Federal Reserve says that we need to have 2 % inflation. Prices have to go up 2 % a year. Why? I mean, why does the cost of living have to go up? Why can't it go down or at least remain the same? And what is the answer to that? The IMF can be sued. IMF is suable. IMF cannot use corrupt crooks in government to trap Kenyans in debt. Any debt that was borrowed out of the budget, without parliamentary approval and without passing through the Consolidated Fund, Must not be paid by Kenyans. We are not here to suffer servicing the lavish lifestyles of crooks in government. #RutoMustGoNow #DrainTheSwamp
