He is right. The basic principles of epidemiology haven't changed. Population immunity and resilience develop either through vaccination or through widespread infection. The latter comes at the cost of preventable illness, long-term disability, and death, particularly before effective treatments are available. The rational public health choice is prevention. Vaccination, when safe and effective vaccines exist, reduces the human cost of achieving population immunity. Framing established epidemiological science as somehow criminal or illegitimate makes no scientific sense.
