Those big boomboxes were really cool except that they took like 8 D-cell batteries so they were basically useless outdoors. I always wondered how people "in the hood" were able to have them running all the time. Maybe they used rechargeable alkaline batteries which were available for like 2 weeks in the 80s.

My parents used to have entire recharging banks lol
