.White House Press Office explains the long-term plan for American ranchers released by Secretary Brooke Rollins: "The President hears them, he has to address both of these problems—for the ranchers, but also for the American consumer. He promised to lower costs, and that's what he's committed to doing."

@PressSec @SecRollins The problem of beef cost to consumer is not because of Ranchers. It’s because of the monopoly of packing and delivery. Look at the cost on hoof versus after packing. They ran the small processors out of business with regulation.

The problem as I see it is small local slaughter houses were killed by regulation, purchased by corporations, and permanently closed. This reduced the number of purchasers at stock auctions, therefore the four major slaughter houses get to set priced making the small producers hobbyists instead being about to support their operations and family with agriculture forced to seek primary employment to support the ranching habit.

: importing live cattle creates jobs across the ag sector. Jobs in trucking, increased commodity consumption, grazing for wheat pasture farmers, increased #s in feedlots, increased processing in US packing plants (even if in the big 4), etc. Mexican live cattle imports create revenue that circulates in the ag economy and contributes to a greater beef supply. Importing boxed beef, regardless of how small the quantity, does not benefit the American ag sector.
