Munchausen’s by proxy is a very interesting take on this. It is very difficult to argue that a subset of the youth claiming to be trans are not doing so due to outsized pressure/encouragement from the adults and/or other kids around them.

Although this is of course true, there's also the matter of vindictive divorced women transing their children in order to 'get back' at their ex husbands. It's a legal and socially rewarding way for them to utterly destroy their exes.
