In Yoruba, they call it “belubelu” refers to the uvula. It is the fleshy structure seen at the back of the throat. The disadvantage or risk of cutting the uvula, known as a uvulectomy, includes potential risks such as pain, bleeding, infections, and in some cases, a chronic sensation of excess phlegm, and dryness if too much of the uvula is removed.
