We were told that's it's controlled burning carried out by Uganda Wildlife Authority. They sometimes intentionally burn sections of the grassland to remove old or dry vegetation and encourage fresh grass for grazing some animals.

This is sometimes done by UWA officials themselves. It is called controlled burning, It helps to have fresh grass grow again.

It's controlled bush burning done by the authorities so that fresh grass grows and also with fresh grass, the animals come closer to where you can easily spot them

It's normal during dry season .

Controlled burning is one of protected area management practices normally carried out close to the onset of the rainy season. It helps rejuvenate the grasses so the animals have fresh grass to enjoy.
