Jeremy you should ride more defensively...you have clear view of the car and can easily anticipate that it may turn left. It's all about a bit of tolerance and reading the road. You can lower your stress levels by being a bit more easy going.

I did ride defensively. That's why I wasn't hurt.

If you go out looking for agg you will probably find it.

I think you could simply have slowed a little ... some anticipation is required ... basic road awareness perhaps.

Cyclist. Driver is at junction ages before & carefully turns . "Rule 74 Turning. When approaching a junction on the left, watch out for vehicles turning in front of you, out of or into the side road." Although priority rule also applies they are far ahead & acting safely.

You could see he was turning at least 20 metres before you got there. Just brake, let him finish the turn and go about your day. Everything seems to be such a stress causing drama for you when you get on your bike.

You seem to be riding to make a point all the time. Reading the body language of other road users & predicting what they might do, is central to avoiding accidents. The driver was wrong to make the turn (& stop) but when he did you went in & made a situation out of it.

I think you wrote "riding to make a point" when you meant "riding to stay alive"
