Who is Joseph Smith? Is he who we think he is?

Prophets are called by God to lead people to Jesus Christ. I believe Joseph was a prophet because I have read the Book of Mormon and it points me to Christ! It is the fruit of his prophetic calling!

It doesn't matter what you hope he is, whatever that means. It is using the methodological tools of history to determine what somebody in the past most likely was Fortunately, we have Smtihs own writings and tons of corroborating sources about his life. And sorry, it's not good

There are plenty of well-trained historians who use those same methodological tools and believe him to be a prophet.
