Who remembers?

I remember thinking if Spud can dunk I can dunk… I in fact cannot dunk. This was the best era of basketball and dunk contests, IMO

One of my favorite dunk contests. I have an autographed Spud Webb jersey on the wall.

In a couple years, youngsters will assume this video was AI 🤪🤣

5'7", absolutely amazing

I saw him do that in Junior College. He looked like a little kid out there with those big guys, but he ran circles around everybody. He was fast. And when he dunked, the fans were in awe. Even the opposing team fans cheered for him. I had a feeling then that he would be a pro.

Compare this to this year…. NBA is a joke today

The last great Dunker was Vince Carter.

Not only do I remember it, I was there covering the event…these days players have better dunks, but “Spud”, at 5’ 7”…..put on a show for the ages….and won…

I was at that slam dunk contest in Dallas. Spud Webb was amazing.

Japan Mizuno Tv cm 1990

I remember watching this as a kid and it felt like a kid had won the dunk contest. I then bought his autobiography not too long after that at the school book fair.

Ahhh the good ‘ol days

5'6" and won dunk contest epic

Compared to that fool dancing the other day after a weak ass dunk… Spud puts him to shame…39 years ago…..

NC State recruiter with coach Jim Valvano met him as he got off the plane. Coach looked at the recruiter in disbelief, seeing Spuds height. It didn't take long for him to buy in.

I remember that like yesterday

Seeing him dunk in front of the crowd at Reynolds Coliseum while at NC State is still one of my favorite memories. Place would go crazy!

The fact that Spud didn’t need the self ally is wild💯💯 his bounce at that height is crazy

@YostUsher @SteveDrews

I got to watch him and Wilkins play life against my Knicks and their was a old lady walked up to him during warmups. She asked for a picture and Spud happily done it. She was taller than him and she looked to be in her eighties 🤣 NBA was so much better

@Skylar_Byrne still the most freakish freak of nature.

@davidoconnell39 🏀🏆

When the dunk contest was the Dunk Contest

Spud Webb...hell yeah!

Spectacular!!!

spud webb

It was the first slam dunk contest. I can remember I watched it in my grandparents basement My uncle had a satellite dish It was on TBS Spud Webb was the man !

The slam dunk and 3 point contests were actually something to watch back then.

The first dunk they showed was the dunk was one of the two that shut it down…they didn’t show him bouncing it off the floor and it hit the glass and he caught it
