Dolly wrote it. Dolly feels it when she sings it. Dolly is the winner. Whitney has the most powerful and amazing performance. And this isn’t her best version of it. Ariana does an incredible job. She’s third here. Her voice is insane. Christina is usually great but this wasn’t her best.

Whitney Houston’s version took the song to another stratosphere and made it a global classic, but Dolly’s original is timeless and beautifully done in its own right. 🎵 ❤️

Ariana really surprised me.. but she was kinda channeling Whitney. Dolly & Whitney are really singing two different songs (in many ways), so it feels unfair to compare them. Both amazing in their own ways. 🙏

Dolly’s emotion trumps them all. The rest were just showing off their pipes without the same level of emotion.

Believe it or not Arianna is a close second to Whitney!

Dolly sounds great, but it’s barely even the same song as the later, Whitney version. Whitney doesn’t even sound good here. She has far better recordings. Christina sounds terrible. Ariana Grande is the best (by far) of the three singing that arrangement here.

See the great thing about this is the original, Dolly who wrote the song and kept the rights to it, sang it as she meant it to be sung. Then Whitney broke the mold, suddenly the song went mainstream and they both made money and shared fame. Even Dolly herself has commented on The Bodyguard. The other two? Just copycats.

Christina and that last chick just copied Whitney. Dolly and Whitney are tied.

Kevin Costner went to Dolly and asked her if Whitney could sing the song for the upcoming movie they were doing together. Dolly said that when she heard her sing it she knew she had written it for her. Dolly is an Angel. She also was correct. This was Whitney’s song, written by Dolly.

All great. But Dolly's is much sweeter, more tender, and matches the message better.
